Heather’s leadership approach is rooted in strategic clarity, high expectations, and disciplined execution, balanced with deep respect for relationships and human connection. Patty Kelley is a Preschool Guide at Alpha Brownsville with over 10 years of experience in education, nonprofit leadership, and community programming across Central and South Texas. A proud Brownsville native, she is passionate about early childhood development and loves creating playful, meaningful spaces where young learners feel seen, supported, and excited to grow. Patty is all about building strong connections with children, families, and the community. When she is not in the classroom, you can usually find her traveling with her husband, soaking up time near the water, or recharging through nature and creative projects.

Through curiosity-driven play, strong routines, and meaningful relationships, I’ll help our youngest learners build the confidence and skills they need to thrive both in and beyond the classroom.
Samantha is an LL Guide at Alpha Brownsville, where she empowers young learners to grow in confidence, independence, and a genuine love for learning. Inspired by Alpha’s mission to transform education through life skills and 2x learning, she left the traditional classroom to be part of something bigger. She finds daily inspiration in her students’ grit, curiosity, and creativity. Outside of Alpha, Samantha co-founded Warbler Coffee Co. and enjoys time with her pets, exploring nature, and expressing herself through art and design.

Desirè Park is a L1 Guide and Reading Specialist at Alpha Brownsville, where she brings over a decade of public school experience and a Master’s in Reading. Driven by a belief in individualized learning and student empowerment, she left traditional education to pursue a more impactful path. Known for her high standards and heartfelt coaching, Desirè blends academic rigor with deep compassion. She’s inspired by Carol Dweck’s growth mindset and thrives on helping students unlock their potential. When not guiding learners, she’s cheering at her kids’ baseball games or diving into book club reads and new recipes.

With a background in Early Childhood Education and a Master’s in Curriculum & Instruction, she brings deep expertise and a nurturing spirit to everything she does. Ty is known for building strong relationships, making learning fun and meaningful, and helping scholars grow both academically and socially. She’s committed to delivering on Alpha’s promise every day—ensuring that all scholars are ready for college, career, and a life of purpose. When she’s not at Alpha, Ty loves listening to audiobooks, watching their corresponding movies, and dancing it out in Zumba class.

Gabbi Piazza serves as the Alpha Quest Coordinator at Alpha Brownsville and Director of Camp BTX, the school’s immersive summer space‑science camp near SpaceX Starbase in Brownsville, Texas. She holds a degree in early childhood education and specializes in neurodiverse learning and camp programming. In her Alpha Quest role, Gabbi oversees a rich after‑school experience offering STEM, coding, art, cooking in Spanish, robotics, and more—designed to empower curiosity and creativity across the community. As Camp BTX director, she leads exploratory science, astronomy, rocketry, and planetary science programs for children aged 3–16, fostering adventure, innovation, and confidence
I bring Alpha’s promise to life by creating fun, hands-on spaces where kids feel excited, confident, and totally themselves. Whether it’s after school or at camp, I’m all about helping learners explore, take risks, and realize just how much they’re capable of.
Zijin Zhang has taught and coached learners across four continents, co-founded two education ventures, and led mountaineering expeditions in the Himalayas. She holds an M.S.Ed from the University of Pennsylvania and brings her cross-cultural insight and spirit of adventure to Alpha Brownsville, helping students grow stronger, braver, and more independent.
