Born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta, I moved to Vancouver Island after high school. I attended the University of Victoria, where I earned a BA while playing varsity soccer. Soccer has been a big part of my life for many years, both as a player and as a referee, working with athletes of all ages and levels. One of the highlights of my soccer journey was serving as the manager of Canada’s U20 Women’s National Team at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup. Through sport, I’ve developed a passion for teamwork, leadership, and helping others grow and succeed.
Education is my lifelong passion project. I’m a true teacher geek at heart; nothing beats seeing the face of a student during an “AHA!” moment! I started studying deaf education before classically homeschooling my five children. In the public school sector, I enjoyed facilitating adult education, middle school language arts, and elementary school. Along the way, coaching girls’ sports was a slam dunk, and tutoring college students kept me sharp in higher mathematics. Later, I served as an ed-tech instructional coach and mentor. Most recently, I worked for an ed tech company providing professional development and I missed the kids! I believe kids deserve the very best education, which is built on strong relationships, high expectations, and deep engagement.
I was born and bred in Miami, other than a short stint in Spain until the age of 7. I was an IB kid, and loved the educational model, it led me to study different types of ways that kids learned around the world. I have a degree in Biomedical Sciences with a minor in Childhood Development and Education, then earned a postgraduate degree in Secondary Biology Education from the University of Glasgow, where I went on to teach secondary school science in sience. Post-pandemic, I decided to move into EdTch. After 4 years out of the classroom, I was excited to find Alpha!
Justin Peterson is a campus operations professional who has spent the last several years building systems that make schools run invisibly — so educators can focus on what actually matters. My background spans school district operations, technology management, and operational frameworks designed to help campuses eliminate gaps before parents ever feel them. What drew me to Alpha is simple: this is a school that proves kids can love learning when the environment is built around them rather than around convenience for adults. I’m here to make sure the campus runs so smoothly that students, families, and staff never have to think about the operational layer — they just experience the result.

Yes. Alpha Miami’s K–12 grade scope includes elementary and middle-school years. Students use the same personalized, mastery-based academic model, with age-appropriate Guide coaching and workshops.
Alpha Miami concentrates personalized core academics into a focused two-hour block using adaptive learning tools. The remaining school day is used for workshops, collaborative projects, and practical skill development.
