How does Alpha Fort Worth teach students to respond to failure?
The parent describes Alpha's approach as treating failure as fuel. When a session does not go as planned, students reset, try again, and use the setback as part of the learning process.
Fort Worth
A Fort Worth parent says Alpha helped her son take ownership of his learning, respond calmly to setbacks, and regain his love of school. She also values completing academics during the school day so their family has time for sports and life outside school.
Hi, my name is Adriana Vanderhick. Um, my son Jacob is in sixth grade and attends Alpha in Fort Worth. Two summers ago, we came across an AI camp that was being offered at Alpha Austin. It was phenomenal, mind-blowing what he could create at his age to me is just unfound. We would have really loved to go to that school. It just didn't work out at the time. And then we heard about the Fort Worth school opening. So we came and we did an informational day and the guides remembered him. That already was impressive. I wasn't quite accustomed to other options as opposed to, you know, this is what you're taught. This is what you need to follow. These are the rules. Follow the path from point A to B and there's it's a straight path. So really wanted to find a school that could build upon his ambitions, his goals. One of the biggest changes I've seen is his mindset. Instead of getting discouraged by setbacks, he's seeing them as opportunities. Alpha is teaching failure is fuel. I was just in awe of these kids are failed. My mom heart who I just want to swoop in and fix everything is is kind of panicked going, "What do you mean you're not passing? Like I'm not understanding this. How do you not pass your session? What happens?" and the confidence and hit was just so calm to say, "Well, we just try again. Next session, we start over and we do it again." And I was just in awe of that response. I mean, you just move on. I think that's phenomenal. I love that. That is what Alpha is teaching because it's also helping me grow as an adult. You're right. I don't have to fix everything. I don't I can't be there at every moment and it's okay. You're getting those steps of growth and you'll be great. Alpha's model of AI and no homework is absolutely amazing. I don't have to stress that he is getting things done because he handles it at school and the guides are there who are much more equipped to handle the teaching aspect. We just get to go home and just enjoy whatever we'd like to do. He he plays sports so we have ample time to focus on sports or just take the day off. Once we came to Alpha, they're helping me grow as a parent. I don't have all the answers and Alpha understands that. And you're not only trying to do the best for your child. It's trying to grow as a parent. This school understands the different learning styles for each student and caters it to the student. You're not trying to fit your student in this box. Everything that I have worked towards and trying to accomplish, Alpha is doing. And it's all for the benefit of our children to grow and then us alongside it.

She saw greater confidence, a healthier response to setbacks, stronger ownership of learning, and renewed enthusiasm for school.
No. She says her son completes his academic work during the school day, leaving family time available for sports and other activities.
