At Alpha, life skills aren't extra, they're essential. With academics completed early, students spend their afternoons in workshops designed to build leadership, teamwork, problem-solving, and independence. And when students are ready, they don't just talk about growth, they demonstrate it. Welcome to Test to Pass. Across the country, Alpha workshops culminate in a real-world test, a challenge designed to measure life skills in action. In San Francisco, students were tested in very different ways. Some faced fear head-on, biking across the Golden Gate Bridge and back without stopping. Some people come to America just to do it, we're going to bike across the Golden Gate Bridge. My legs hurt. We have to do it. When I was going up the mountain parts, I still did it even though it was hard. I was struggling and I was pushing the wheel. Others took the stage. Welcome, everyone. I'm Chef Mix Leila, and today we're diving into the crispy, juicy, totally iconic world of Filipino Lumpia. And some became inventors, designing and building real AI tools. Then presenting their working solutions live, explaining how they worked and defending their ideas under pressure. And entrepreneurship to make something useful. We wanted our solutions to make life easier for everyone. The education system wasn't designed for the world we live in now. In Chantilly, students trained their bodies and their mindset, building endurance through weeks of running, reflection and deliberate practice. There's mental grit, which is when you control your thoughts and keep going. And there is physical grit when you push your body to do it best. In Texas, leadership took the helm. On Lake Travis, students ran a full sailing regatta, rigging boats, rotating captains, navigating independently, and making decisions together under pressure. In Austin and Fort Worth, independence was put to the test. All done! Students faced survival challenges. First aid, fire, shelter and navigation. Learning how preparation and teamwork matter when there's no safety net. Yeah, we got fire! In Miami, focus and grit were put to the test. Some students became teachers, creating chess tutorials so clear and precise that others could follow them step by step. Today I'm going to teach you how to play chess. Knights go next to the rooks. The dark queen goes on the dark square. The queen is my favorite piece because it can move anywhere. Because at Alpha, understanding shows up in what you can explain and teach. Now you're ready to be a chess master. Others trained like real athletes. Students took on pro-level ninja obstacle courses, racing, climbing and resetting after every fall. I thought it would just be a lot of fun, but then I realized it's not that easy. I tried it and I tested my limits. Learning that grit isn't about never failing, but about pushing forward again and again. In New York City, precision and adaptability were tested. Some students stepped into the kitchen, learning to plan, execute and adjust as they cooked together under time constraints. Others took to the court, refining footwork, focus and strategy, learning how preparation and discipline show up in real competition. In Palm Beach, resilience met responsibility. I can swim at 13 feet deep, holding my breath for 20 seconds. Students completed a Navy SEALS-based aquatic rescue. I pulled Sean 25 yards. Battling fatigue, pressure and the clock in a full-scope water mission. Another test took to the open water. In Santa Barbara, students entered the Pacific, surfing, free diving, forecasting conditions and reflecting on who they were becoming through the challenge. I was able to complete my goals of catching three waves and going all the way down to the bottom, and I'm reflecting on how proud I am to do that. Before I couldn't get up on the board, and now I'm really confident I can stand up. In Orange County, teamwork and grit took center stage. Some students entered the intensity of a professional kitchen, operating as a full chef brigade under a surprise menu and tight deadline. Are you ready, chefs? Yes. Olivia, you're going to start off the apples. I'm going to start the chicken fricassee. Cora, you can start off the cutting the potatoes. Let's go. This workshop is going to help me become a three-star Michelin chef. It's teaching me skills that are going to help me later on in the future. And in Scottsdale, students took on a learn-to-learn challenge. Starting from zero, they learned to write music, produce original tracks and perform live. My name is Ruby, and I really like singing. I'm about to crush out this... We're doing vocal coaching. We had a bunch of songwriting sessions, and I wrote my song. Run through it. What do I do? A little practice run. Yes. Life gets harder and tries to hold you down. But you get smarter and figure it out. Feet off the ground. Performing original songs on stage before a live audience. Tears just keep coming back. Before this, I didn't know I could do something like that. It makes me feel more confident about myself. Hearing my songs recorded and playing on Spotify made me feel proud of myself. These aren't extracurriculars. They are how Alpha measures growth. Test to Pass isn't about perfection. It's about showing up, taking ownership and rising to the challenge. Test2Pass Compilation. Life Skills. Test to Pass. Workshops
