Video transcript

This workshop is socialization in the wild. Right now we are going to go socialize by asking managers if we can interview them at some of the stores. We're gonna ask them about education and for the past few weeks we've been going up on the street and asking random strangers if they want to be interviewed. The life skill of this workshop is socialization with a sub skill of interpersonal communication. We practice this life skill by facilitating street interviews in downtown Austin. When I found out that we were gonna interview people in the street I got really nervous because like my social anxiety when I figure out we're gonna go interview people about education I got worried but I think more as we went on the workshop I grew and I was like okay I started getting more excited about it. We interviewed professionals walking by our school as well as managers from local businesses. The hardest part of this workshop was getting rejected. I had one day where I got so many rejections I got really frustrated but I just knew I had to keep pushing until I got someone that would be up to the interview. I had to push past rejection by just trying again and again. I would say it was a little nerve-wracking at first. Halfway through I kind of got the hang of it. I'm definitely growing more confident throughout this process. This workshop really helped me get over the fear of talking to anyone. This helped me get out of my comfort zone and made me a lot more comfortable in talking to adults.
