What do Alpha School parents say about love of learning and student engagement in Scottsdale?

My head is just spinning. Three days in, not joking, three, they were both locked in. A few weeks back, he said, I wish it was Monday. Monday is when we go to school, right? Since coming to Alpha, she's really branched out and found more of her own voice. He doesn't want to hide anymore. He's thriving. What I really liked, though, was the love of learning that Alpha had really initiated. And that wasn't something that she had before. My son will really excel, but he gets bored. She just didn't love school, which was really hard for me because both my parents were professors. I myself have a master's degree. So just like academia is so important to us. I wanted an environment where he could thrive as his true self. I didn't want his personality to be diluted by a mold that all the students are put into at a public school system. I am not stopping until we find the right fit for both kids. Not going to make them sit through this for 18 years. I kept saying, like, someone's building a better boat. And then, sure enough, I took both of them to the shadow day. He just, like, came alive. It's like he was in a little shell. And somebody pulled him out of his shell. A thing I love about Alpha is that we work two hours, but we learn more in two hours than we would in a full day. My son came out and he goes, Mommy, I want to go to school here. And I said, it's full day. He goes, I know, but I'm ready. One out of ten, what do you give to school? And he goes, ten. With the promise that they will love school, I just thought, we've got to give it a try. Academics are important. And I understand the testing and the two-hour learning. And, you know, we're going to be in the 99th percentile. I understand all of that is great and important. But none of that happens if you don't love where you're at. The culture of the school, I think, is different than anything that we've experienced before. When you listen closer to their conversation and the subjects they're talking about, they're just so much more on fire. They want to be there at the first second for drop-off. And they don't want picked up till the very end, till the last minute. Last week, he started reading to me. And I was just like, it's only been seven weeks. Like, where did you learn phonics? And gosh, I'm going to cry again, because it just, like, it was so emotional for me. They literally both just love school. And I would say, run, don't walk. The sooner you can get your kids in this school, the better off they're going to be. I told Elliot that I was coming here to tell you what we think about Alpha. And I said he was invited to participate and he could answer questions. And he said, no, I'd rather stay in school. Is there anything that you want me to tell them? And he said, just tell them I love school.
