For more than 25 years, John has helped people unlock their potential through coaching, leadership, athletics, business and the creative arts. John holds a BA in Innovation in Society and is completing a Master of Science in Global Technology and Development at Arizona State University. As Director of Admissions, John is committed to helping every family feel heard, understood and confident they’ve found the right environment for their child.
The role of education is not simply to transfer knowledge. It is to create the conditions where every child can discover their potential and learn to use it in service of others.

As the Dean of Parents at Alpha School's South Bay campus, Jeff's mission is to be every family's dedicated point of contact: explaining the why behind the model, hearing concerns early, and closing every loop. He came to education through a decade in media and entertainment, leading premium TV distribution in the US, then working in Amsterdam to run global content partnerships across 12 countries. He pivoted from corporate to startup to found an educational gaming studio set to make science fun for kids. Alongside that, he led venture strategy for two early-stage entertainment ventures. His background blends entertainment strategy, startup building, and pre-seed venture work. At Alpha, he connects the school's creative spirit with the real-world experience he brings to it.
Matt is the Head of Guide of Southwest Region Alpha Schools. He has been with Alpha for two years, bringing more than a decade of experience across education, behavioral science, entrepreneurship, and leadership development. A licensed therapist with a Master’s in Education and Counseling, he has coached educators, therapists, children, and organizational leaders in applying behavioral science to unlock motivation, strengthen executive functioning, and improve learning. Before joining Alpha, Matt co-founded an AI coaching company and developed tools that helped teams grow through personalized support. Shaped by his own experience with ADHD, Matt is passionate about creating schools that recognize each child’s strengths, build confidence and independence, and empower students to achieve more than they thought possible.
Zoe is so excited for her second year at Alpha, this time with South Bay as an L1 Guide! With experience as an educator, coach, community leader, and mentor, she brings a passion for inspiring lifelong learners who are curious, creative, and confident. After teaching in the public school system for a few years in Texas and in Michigan, she found Alpha’s innovative model reignited her belief that education can be life-changing. As a lifelong learner herself, once a wildly ADHD kid who thrived when allowed to move at her own pace, she’s committed to helping every student discover and pursue their passions. She can’t wait to empower our learners to become the next generation of leaders, creators, and world changers. When she’s not in the classroom you can most likely find her at a pilates or yoga class, researching her latest curiosity in the health and wellness field, lost in her current book series, volunteering at church, or traveling the world.
Daniel brings more than a decade of classroom experience to Alpha, teaching middle school STEM and elementary science and robotics, where he founded his school’s first 3D printing lab. He most recently led makerspace training for teachers across 40+ LAUSD schools with the Two Bit Circus Foundation, and holds a degree in Elementary Education from Bradley University plus California credentials in multiple subjects, science, and career technical education. A constructivist at heart, Daniel believes students build real understanding by making things, at their own pace and alongside each other, which is what drew him to Alpha’s afternoon workshops. He also runs Dandy’s Farm, a Los Angeles urban homestead where he shares woodworking, gardening, and creative fabrication, and he’s convinced every student should walk away holding something they made themselves.
Born and raised in Rye, New York, Drake graduated from the University of Southern California with a degree in Philosophy before beginning a career in sales. While he loved working collaboratively with people and solving problems as part of a team, he always knew his dream was to work with kids. Through years as a camp counselor, youth basketball coach, and at We Rock the Spectrum, he discovered just how much he loved helping kids grow in confidence and realize their potential. When he discovered Alpha, he knew he’d found the place where he wanted to build his career. His goal is for every student to leave with greater confidence, a stronger sense of self-worth, and the belief that they can accomplish anything they set their mind to. Outside of the classroom he loves to stay active and try new experiences! He is on softball and basketball teams, and does improv comedy. Drake loves relaxing with a book on the beach…to balance the new gray hairs the Detroit Lions give him every season!
Coach Walker came to Alpha by way of high school education, athletics, and the entertainment industry. He has spent the past decade coaching and mentoring athletes from elite youth academy through high school, college, and semi-professional levels, earning a state championship, multiple league championships, and Coach of the Year honors along the way. A former collegiate and semi-professional soccer player, he holds a B.A. in Communication and a Master of Education, and has served as a high school Dean of Students. His athletic career also opened the door to the entertainment industry, where he worked as a stuntman, actor, and filmmaker. Across all of it, he’s been drawn to the same questions: what it takes to perform at an elite level, build strong teams, and create a championship culture. At Alpha, he’s excited to help students challenge their perceived limitations, develop resilience through adversity, pursue excellence, and build the confidence to chase their dreams.
